| Some people are a bitch. Work is a bitch. Work is even more of a bitch when you are in charge. Co-workers become angry because they see you advancing when they are not. Here's the situation:
This week I have digital design training during the day and after class I go back to work to complete tapeout. I've been working so hard and so late to get the final parts of the chip cleaned up. While I'm away during the day, they assigned the phd girl to update the schematics and netlist. On wednesday, she started doing this and misconnected a whole bunch of diodes. Come on, diodes! You would think a phd in ee would know how to hook up a freakin diode. So I come back after class and see that verification has totally blown up since she added these incorrect diodes. I didn't tell on her, didn't make a fuss, just went into the schematic and fixed them. When I had meeting with Malaysia, I simply told them the netlist generated earlier had some issues and the new netlist I would generate would be clean. So fine...I finally get everything cleaned up at 1am and verification is clean. Yesterday I come back from class and they tell me that verification has blown up again and now has 50 errors again. Of course I'm pissed! I work freakin hard to get this to work and it's full of shit again. So I inquire why the errors, and found out that they ran some check again and found there were errors and decided to add diodes again. This confused me because this other check was clean on wednesday too. So I asked her what she did and found that layout told her to add diodes so she did, the actual problem was a short and adding freakin diodes does not help. And yet again, she hookup the diodes incorrectly again on the ones she added. So I had to clean up her shit again. I mean instead of helping me, she is causing me so many errors. So I sent an email to everyone, saying we should be careful and find out the true symptom before adding shitloads of diodes to solve something that is not related. She sent an email back to me cc the vp that I should be more considerate. I was like WTF! Does she want me to send and email and cc the VP about the fact that she f*ed up adding diodes 2 days in a row? What a f*ng idiot! She doesn't deserve to be a phd. I sent her back an email (not ccing anyone) telling her all the mistakes she made. I think it would be idiotic on her part to pursue this further, and if she does I will send all her errors to the VP. If she wants me to be considerate, then don't f*ing screw up so much!

| Yay! I got promoted! I guess working from 8-3am really pays off. Late last month, before the VP with on vacation he assigned me to manage the tapeout while he's away. So I've been working my ass off corresponding with people here and our design center in Malaysia to get this baby out the door. I guess my work really paid off because I got my promotion early. Typically it takes 2+years for a promotion and i got my in 16 months. YAY! But this task has totally tired me out. Thank goodness this tapeout is finishing this friday and I've been given the whole week off next week to relax and recharge. I'm so happy I get to just chill and take a vacation, especially a paid for vacation. =) I'm leaving for my parent's house this Saturday and plan on having a relaxing week on the beach and shopping with my mom. I really need to unwind. Being a manager is not easy. Constantly stressing out about the completion of work, chasing down people and addiction to email and blackberry is definitely not healthy. Thank god this is finally ending.

| YAY!!!! I bought my first car today!!! It's beautiful!!!! I'm so proud of myself. My very first car, bought with my own money and completely owned and signed by me! I've been thinking about this for half a year now and I finally pulled the trigger. Good bye '03 Camry Hello '07 LEXUS! Weeeeeeee! I can't believe I'm so happy spending so much money. There's actually nothing wrong with my camry and my dad is a little upset that I'm getting rid of my graduation present so early. But come on, Camry is an old people's car. Everywhere I go I see families riding is large camrys. Lexus...well the IS actually is a really young car and the inside is so futuristic. It's like I live in a whole new dimension. Of course I had to get it fully loaded, navigation, back up camera, HID lights, bluetooth, leather, maple trim. I feel like a princess. ^_^ For a while I was in between the BMW Z4 and the LEXUS IS. I've always wanted a convertible but my parents didn't like the fact that the Z4 was a two seater. And I admit, I would feel bad that I can't take both of them when I go somewhere. So that's why the IS became the better choice. Oh, and the color is really beautiful. In fact I spent 2200 more just for the color. It's called Glacier Frost Mica and it's really rare. I haven't seen anyone drive it. I saw it last Thursday for the first time and when I went back to buy it they already sold it by Saturday. So then I frantically searched for it and found one in Fremont that just came in yesterday. It has sport trim and special dual sport exhaust and thats why it's 2200 more but I had to have the color. I'm surprised the color looks nothing like the picture on the website. On the lexus website it looks like a light blue but in really life it's actually iradescent. So the color is actually white with blue metallic sparkles so at different angles it looks blue or silver or white. The color changes depending on the brightness of the day. So it looks glittery blue in the sun and silvery white in the shade. Apparently, this color is hard to come by and no dealers in california are scheduled to have this car in this color with the options I like for at least 2 months. So I grabbed at this one. So happy! 40,000 Lexus bought by a 22 year old girl with no ones help. I'm proud of myself! | | |
| So Jason and I just had our fourth year anniversary and we decided to take a long weekend together. Our weekend started on Wednesday (Valentine's Day) after work. We both went home early and had an early dinner at Katana (Sushi restaurant in Sunnyvale). The food was really good and filling. We also did the ritual swapping of cards and chocolates. His card is so beautiful. He was able to somehow find a card that said Happy Valentine's Day and happy anniverary. Our anniversary was actually Friday (16th) but it's close enough to Valentine's day so we always celebrate the two together. So we got home early after dinner in preparation for our snowboarding reno trip. We headed up Thursday morning to Boreal. Stopped by Sacramento to pick up a Burton snowboarding jacket for me (it's awesome and I look like a pro) and reached Boreal by noon. We then snowboarded for 5 hours. I started to get frustrated linking turns and so we decided to head off to Reno. We stayed at Circus Circus in Reno which was a pretty nice hotel and our single room on the 24th floor happened to be a corner room of the sky tower that overlook the city. It was really nice. We then set off to the buffet and stuffed ourselves full of shrimp and prime rib. They have nice buffetss there. After dinner we went to the midway which has tons of carnival games and shows. We played a LOT of carnival games. Jason kept trying to win me big stuff animals but the ones I won were always bigger that the ones he won. He did win a pillow that said spoiled for our puppy to sleep on =). We also watched an acrobatic dog show and the flying trapeze shows. It was so much fun! The next day he headed off to Boreal again in the morning and snowboarded for another day. After two runs on the bunny slope, we decided to step it up to intermediate. It was sooo much fun. I think once you go intermediate you never want to do beginner. It was a little scary the first time when I realized at the top how steep the drop was but then once you start going it's really not that bad. It was so thrilling. It's awesome to go so fast and the riding time is just so much longer. Jason is already really good at snowboarding; he was carving Ss at the top of the mountain and even doing jumps on slightly flatter areas. I was still feathering on the really steep areas and slowly linking turns. I must say, once you start carving, it's the most awesome feeling in the world. I never want to go back to feathering. But linking is also a bitch to learn because you catch a lot of snow if you do it wrong and that means falling hard. All in all it was a great experience. I think I will only go on intermediate from now on. =). After our day of snowboarding, we headed home and stopped by the Alameda Sushi house to have our anniversary dinner. Like always, the sushi house dinner was great. At home, he showed me that he had bought me the Legend of Zelda: twilight princess for my anniversary present. So then we wiied until 4am the next day and the next day.=) YAY! It was a wonderful long weekend! | | |
